For the Farmhouse hotel and hospitality project in Osnabrück, we were commissioned to plan and implement the shading solution for the terrace. Completed in 2024, the project shows how large-format parasols can be integrated both functionally and visually into a high-quality outdoor area.
On the occasion of the Farmhouse’s first anniversary, we would like to congratulate the entire team and thank them for the trust they placed in us.
The Initial Situation
The Farmhouse terrace is a central meeting place for hotel and restaurant guests. It is used for breakfast, events and regular hospitality operations.
Because of the size of the area and the different seating zones, a large-scale shading solution was required. At the same time, the open character of the terrace had to be preserved.
Design also played an important role. The parasols needed to blend harmoniously with the existing Farmhouse colour concept.
Implementation with Four May Schattello Large Parasols
Four May Schattello large hospitality parasols were installed on the terrace.
The parasols feature convenient crank operation, making them particularly suitable for regular use in the hospitality sector.
The canopies were colour-coordinated with the Farmhouse design concept and are made from high-quality MayTex acrylic fabric. The 300 g/m² fabric is UV-stable and achieves a lightfastness rating of 7–8. Thanks to the solution-dyed fibres, the fabric offers excellent colour fastness – an important advantage for parasols used permanently in outdoor hospitality areas.
For the anchoring system, ground sockets with extended tubes were used. This design was chosen to provide additional stability within the existing terrace substructure.
This keeps large mobile parasol bases out of the seating and circulation areas and allows the terrace to remain open and flexible in use.
Terrace Shading for Hotels and Hospitality
The arrangement of the four large parasols creates several generously shaded areas across the terrace.
At the same time, the outdoor area remains open and versatile. The colour-coordinated canopies blend harmoniously into the overall appearance of the Farmhouse and support the high-quality design of the terrace.
The project demonstrates how important it is to coordinate parasol size, operation, canopy fabric, anchoring and design when planning shading solutions for hospitality terraces.
A successful terrace shading solution is created when function, design and the specific requirements of the location are planned together.
